This is just a peek into what all us guys do around the shop and after hours. We have all worked together at least 10 years and Chris Smith has been with me for 15 years. I call this a family business even though no one shares my last name and am blessed to have these guys on my team. I hope to add more stuff to this page soon. |
Chris is an avid drag racer and our mechanic. He is one of the best electrical trouble shooters I've ever seen. He has been with me for over 15 years and is definitely part of the family. His love for racing is only second to his love of his little boy. Chris is a great dad , technician, and competitor. Check with Chris for any of your service needs. |
A little about me. I've been an avid off road enthusiast since I was 4 years old. I've been in the Power Sports business since 1997 I started in the business as a summer job because my previous job was super stresfull and quite honestly I really wanted to take it easy for a few months and get back into motorcyles, ATVs, and watercraft before getting back into the corporate world. I was not very good in the interview process and wasn't a very good salesperson but the manager of the dealership hired me because I was big and would be him some work.......(true story). From the beginning I enjoyed all the like minded people I was surrounded by. In this business you don't have to "sell" anyone anything. You simply have to help them buy. That has been my philosophy since the beginning. I was told more than once if I wanted to do things my way it would have to wait till my name was on the sign. In 2003 I got the chance to open my own store and the very first thing I did was put my name on the sign. Gooch's Power Sports was born. What started as a low stress summer job has become a career. These days are a little more stressful however I cant imagine doing anything else. I have made lifelong friends from customers. Though my time is spread thin nowadays my goal is for me and my guys to be thought of by our customers as "your friend in the business". I put my personal Cell phone number out there for all my customers and potential customers for a reason. I want to talk to you. If you have an issue or a question I don't believe there is a better person for you to contact than me. If I don't have the answer I know someone who will. My shop is different than any shop I know. We are very informal and want all our guests to feel like they are hanging out in their buddies garage. If you need formal structure, complete and total orginization, and undivided one on one attention we probably are not going to be your favorite place to shop. If you want to be told how it is and be treated as equals then you will fit right in. Sometimes there are 5 to 10 customers to one or 2 employees so please be patient. Also don't be afraid to throw your hand up and just ask your question. I don't get to ride as much as I used to. A beautiful wife, 2 children, and being a business owner make it a little more difficult than it used to be however I've promised myself I'll get back behind handlebars soon. I've been spending time playing with cars lately but look forward to getting back to my roots. Please send us your feedback. I would love to hear the good and bad. I actively participate in the local facebook pages so I get to hear and be a part of the good and the bad. We aren't perfect for sure but If I know there is a problem I'll do my best to remedy it. I've enjoyed sharing a little about myself and look forward to meeting anyone who took the time to read this. Shawn Gooch |
Not my Corvette pictured above. I could barely fit in it anyway! LOL. Not very often you get to sit in a true holy grail Corvette so I couldn't miss the opportunity to Probably a $250K car. |
